Application:

1. Application as a solvent in polymer processing
DMSO exhibits excellent solubility for most polar polymers (such as polyamides, polyurethanes, polyimides, cellulose derivatives, etc.), and is therefore commonly used as a solvent in spinning, coating, and film preparation processes.
2. Application as a Reaction Medium in Polymer Synthesis and Modification
DMSO's polar environment and chemical stability make it an ideal medium for polymerization reactions or polymer modification.
3. Auxiliary Role as a Swelling Agent in Polymer Processing
Although DMSO has limited solubility for non-polar or weakly polar polymers (such as polyethylene and polystyrene), it can relax molecular chains through swelling, facilitating subsequent processing.
4. Applications in Polymer Recycling and Degradation
DMSO can dissolve certain waste polymers, facilitating chemical recycling.
